On December 24th, 2020 Acting Minister Responsible for Petroleum, The Hon. Dion Foulkes established a “safety zone” around the BPC drilling location for the Perseverance 1 well.
The safety zone includes the area within a 500 m radius of the exploratory well’s permitted drill site in the Cooper license area. the center of the safety zone is at 23°12’12.4″N 79°08’14.1″W (23.203431, -79.137250) in the World Geodetic System 1984(3).
This creates a nearly 200 acre no go zone for sea faring vessels. The area also extends vertically to 30,000 feet for manned and unmanned aerial vehicles.
